“In today’s unanimous decision, the Tennessee Supreme Court explained that, under state law, a life sentence is a determinate sentence of 60 years,” the court wrote. “However, the sixty-year sentence can be reduced by up to 15 percent, or 9 years, by earning various sentence credits (good behavior. & getting involved in prison based education programs while incarcerated) Therefore, the Supreme Court concluded that a defendant serving a life sentence for a first-degree murder committed on or after July 1, 1995, may be eligible for release after serving at least 51 years of the sentence.“

Cyntoia Brown was a 16 yr old girl, who at the time of the incident was living in a room at a Nashville InTown Suites with Allen (the man who propositioned her for sex) because her pimp and boyfriend Garion McGlothen, nick-named “Kut Throat,” insisted that she needed to earn money.
After Allen took her to his house, he showed Cyntoia multiple guns, including shotguns and rifles. Later in bed, as she described in court, he grabbed her violently by the genitals, his demeanor became threatening and, fearing for her life, she took a gun out of her purse and shot him.

people on here dont understand that slur reclamation is EXTREMELY personal. an entire community, collectively, cannot reclaim a slur, individuals can. and for the love of god telling people why they should want to be called a slur isn’t woke
what slur reclamation is: using a slur that you can reclaim in a positive manner about yourself or about others you love only after being given permission to use those slurs when talking about that person and only using them in a positive manner
what slur reclaimation isn’t: using slurs in a negative manner about yourself or others, calling ppl slurs when they haven’t given you permission to call them that, literally anything that isn’t specifically what i said is slur reclaimation

Yes, we plan to allow NSFW content with very few restrictions. I don’t have any particular insight into why Tumblr is making this decision but if I had to guess, it’s because allowing NSFW content conflicts with their need for the site to be marketable and safe for advertisers– Pillowfort on the other hand plans to derive most of its revenue from user subscriptions, meaning that we will be beholden to our actual userbase and not outside advertisers and can therefore have more leeway in what we can host.
We all have seen the Tumblr communicate about forbidding nsfw blogs or those which have “adult” posts.
They think it won’t cause them any harm, but we are a really big part of the community. Let’s act and tell the staff that tumblr will slowly die after taking this decision. Follow these steps:
First of all, REBLOG THIS POST, so any NSFW blog can post and see it.
Give tumblr the worst mark at the App Store or Play Store
Write a negative comment about how they’re banning accounts and censoring the freedom of expression.
Purpose as a comment below a new site to move as a NSFW community.
If you do this before the 17 of December, we can change this decision. Let’s make the staff hear us. Make tumblr great again, a free place for free minds and free content!!
Personally, I enjoyed every single moment here at tumblr, and I appreciate everyone of my followers and blogs that I follow. If they delete my account… It was a pleasure to know you all. But we can still change this!!!
